Dr. Jihan Hashim-Adil, the founder and currently the National President of the Society of Environmental Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (SEEP), was appointed as one of the new members of the National Panel of Technical Experts of the Climate Change Commission of the Philippines on October 13, 2021.

Dr. Adil is an expert in environmental planning and engineering who has worked with local governments to build comprehensive land use plans. Dr. Adil has pledged to educate local government units (LGUs), particularly those in Mindanao, about climate change, beginning at the barangay level.

She was chosen as one of the 16 new NTPE members coming from the different regions in the country, selected from more than a hundred of expert candidates who are expected to provide technical assistance to the Commission on climate science, technologies, best practices for risk assessment, and vulnerable communities’ adaptive capacities to possible climate change impacts.

Dr. Adil is a registered Environmental Planner and certified Building for Ecological Resilience and Design Excellence (BERDE) Professional. In 2018, she received the Most Outstanding Woman in Water Award (conferred by the Environmental Management Bureau Region IX). She is a Doctor of Education, Major in Educational Administration and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering, and her fields of expertise include Environmental Planning and Engineering.
