Environmental Engineering encompasses the application of science and engineering principles to protect and improve the environment, including the air, water, and land resources, to provide safe water, air, and land for human habitation and for other organisms and to rehabilitate polluted sites, solid waste management, environmental impact assessment, environmental risk assessment and management, atmospheric pollution abatement; noise pollution abatement; conservation and protection of water resources; classification of water; protection of watersheds; and management of toxic and hazardous substances and radiological pollution. The ultimate goal of environmental engineering is the protection of human populations from the effects of adverse environmental factors and the protection of environments, both local and global, from potentially deleterious effects of natural and human activities.
Environmental engineers work to protect the environment and public health by applying scientific and engineering principles to design, develop, and implement sustainable solutions. They address issues such as water and air pollution, waste management, renewable energy systems, and environmental remediation, aiming to create a healthier and more sustainable world for current and future generations.
