What is Environmental Engineering?​

“Environmental Engineering encompasses the application of science and engineering principles to protect and improve the environment, including the air, water, and land resources, to provide safe water, air, and land for human habitation and for other organisms and to rehabilitate polluted sites, solid waste management, environmental impact assessment, environmental risk assessment and management, atmospheric pollution abatement; noise pollution abatement; conservation and protection of water resources; classification of water; protection of watersheds; and management of toxic and hazardous substances and radiological pollution. The ultimate goal of environmental engineering is the protection of human populations from the effects of adverse environmental factors and the protection of environments, both local and global, from potentially deleterious effects of natural and human activities.”

Engr. Cena appointed as New Committee Chair for Membership of SEEP

SEEP Board Resolution No. 2022-001 dated Jan 19, 2022 designates Engr. Catherine C. Cena as Committee Chair for Membership vice Dr. Corazon V. Ligaray (who resigned as member of the SEEP BoT last Dec 9, 2021).
 
Engr Cathy is a graduate of BS Ecological & Environmental Engineering from WMSU in 2003 and finishing here MS in Environmental Science at DLSU-Dasmariñas. She is currently employed Supervisor/PCO/SO at USHIO Philippines.

SEEP President Dr. Adil named as New Member of National Panel of Technical Experts for Climate Change

Dr. Jihan Hashim-Adil, the founder and currently the National President of the Society of Environmental Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (SEEP), was appointed as one of the new members of the National Panel of Technical Experts of the Climate Change Commission of the Philippines on October 13, 2021.

Dr. Adil is an expert in environmental planning and engineering who has worked with local governments to build comprehensive land use plans. Dr. Adil has pledged to educate local government units (LGUs), particularly those in Mindanao, about climate change, beginning at the barangay level.

She was chosen as one of the 16 new NTPE members coming from the different regions in the country, selected from more than a hundred of expert candidates who are expected to provide technical assistance to the Commission on climate science, technologies, best practices for risk assessment, and vulnerable communities’ adaptive capacities to possible climate change impacts.

Dr. Adil is a registered Environmental Planner and certified Building for Ecological Resilience and Design Excellence (BERDE) Professional. In 2018, she received the Most Outstanding Woman in Water Award (conferred by the Environmental Management Bureau Region IX). She is a Doctor of Education, Major in Educational Administration and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering, and her fields of expertise include Environmental Planning and Engineering.

SEEP BOT Member Arazo sits as new Chancellor of USTP Claveria

Dr. Renato O. Arazo, member of the Board of Trustees of the Society of Environmental Engineers of the Philippines (SEEP), was appointed as the new Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines C,averia Campus, September 29. 

Dr. Arazo was appointed as the new Chancellor of USTP Claveria during the University’s 3rd Regular Board of Regents Meeting. He was previously the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of USTP Claveria. 

Dr. Arazo finished his PhD in Environmental Engineering at the University of the Philippines – Diliman. He was also a visiting research scholar at the Texas A&M University in USA.

Dr. Arazo is an expert in bio-oil production and upgrading.
